A skills assessment or tryout is required for all League Age 8 trough 12 year old players.  This includes returning Major Players.  Everyone makes a team regardless of your skill level.  Returning Major players will remain on a Majors team and cannot be reassigned to Minors.  Once a Majors player always a Majors player.  Tryouts will begin this Saturday, March 2nd at 12:30 PM.  Each age group will have a time slot and we ask you arrive at least 30 minutes before your time slot to check in with the Player Agents.  Check-in will be on the second floor of the clubhouse of the Major's field.  Only the player needs to go upstairs to check-in.  It is tight quarters upstairs.  The parents can remain at the bottom of the stairs unless you still have paperwork that needs to be addressed.  The following are the times for each age group.  This could be subject to change due to weather.  Please monitor your emails and the website throughout the week.

League Age 8, 12:30 to 2 PM (check-in by noon)
League Age 9, 2:15 to 3:15 PM (check-in by 1:45 PM)
League Age 10, 3:30 to 4:30 PM (check-in by 3 PM)
League Age 11 and 12, 4:45 to 5:45 PM (check-in by 4:15 PM)

The tryout will start with the players having catch with each other to warm-up their arms.  Usually they then transition to catching some pop-ups in the outfield then fielding some ground balls at third base and shortstop.  We will then have them run the bases for a speed assessment.  After that they pitch 5 pitches from the mound and then they have a hitting session of around 10 swings each.  No parents are allowed on the field at this time but are more than welcome to watch quietly from the stands.  Only approved volunteers will be allowed on the fields to conduct tryouts.  Baseball is a game and should be fun so there will be no negative criticism during tryouts.  This can be a stressful experience for these young players and shouting or instructing from the stands can cause more stress than necessary.
